ROBIN

ROBIN KILLIP

Robin Killip has never been the kind of artist who follows the standard path. He came up through Aotearoa’s underground the old-school way; from loud rehearsal rooms, scraped-together gear, and the uncompromising instinct to make something that hits you straight in the chest. His first band, Omen, was the proving ground. Raw, rough-edged, and built on instinct rather than industry polish, it taught him to trust his creative gut and keep walking toward the noise instead of away from it.

That energy sharpened when Robin formed Jackpoint, the Auckland rock trio he started with his twin brother Gareth and bass guitarist Adrian Hollay. Across early-2000s demos, an EP, and a full-length release, the band carved out a reputation for straight-spine guitar work, melodic grit, and that distinctly NZ brand of rock that’s a little weather-beaten, a little unhinged, and always full heart. The sound was utterly unapologetic. Their shows were electric. And Robin served as their lead guitarist and vocalist.

Now, after years of pushing his craft across mediums, Robin is stepping into a new chapter with Acid Tongues, his first solo EP; entirely self-written, self-produced, and unapologetically his. The project is a collision of everything he’s carried with him over the years: the feral pulse of his early bands, a more cinematic sense of space, and a voice that feels lived-in, sharpened, and intentional.
Acid Tongues is the sound of an artist willing to reinvent, never sitting still.

Today, with this new sound identity and a sharpened creative voice, Robin is an artist that never stopped creating.

Acid Tongues is just the beginning.
